Ongoing Evaluation Panel

Reno Food & Drink Week operates under a structured, standards-driven evaluation framework. In addition to public feedback and health data, a confidential Ongoing Evaluation Panel supports year-round review of food and drink establishments within the City of Reno.

Panel evaluators contribute to the independent, layered assessment process that informs invitation decisions.

Role of the Ongoing Evaluation Panel

The Ongoing Evaluation Panel exists to:

  • Provide additional independent perspective throughout the year
  • Support consistency across the evaluation framework
  • Observe service, execution, and overall experience under normal operating conditions
  • Reinforce impartial, standards-driven review

Panel participation supports invitation decisions. It does not determine awards, post-event advancement, or final competition outcomes.

Who Should Apply

We seek individuals who:

  • Regularly dine within Reno’s food-and-drink community
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and objectivity
  • Can evaluate hospitality, quality, and execution consistently
  • Are comfortable completing structured scoring forms
  • Understand the importance of discretion

Professional experience in hospitality is welcome but not required. Integrity, consistency, and impartiality are essential.

Conflict of Interest & Confidentiality

To preserve independence and fairness:

  • Individuals with direct or indirect ownership in a Reno food or drink establishment are not eligible.
  • Individuals currently employed by a Reno food or drink establishment are not eligible.
  • Financial partnerships or close family affiliations must be disclosed.
  • Panel members are required to sign confidentiality and conflict-of-interest agreements.

Evaluator identities are not publicly disclosed. Establishments are evaluated under normal operating conditions without advance notice.

Structure of Participation

Panel composition is determined at the discretion of Reno Food & Drink Week and may vary throughout the year based on operational needs.

Evaluators may be asked to:

  • Visit assigned establishments and/or select establishments independently
  • Dine under normal operating conditions without identifying themselves
  • Complete structured evaluation forms within 24 hours of each visit
  • Submit a copy of their receipt to verify the visit

Individual scoring details, evaluator identities, and visit timing remain confidential.

Apply to the Panel

If you are interested in supporting a standards-driven, independent evaluation process, you may submit an application for consideration.

Submission does not guarantee appointment. Selected evaluators will be contacted directly if panel placement becomes available.
